Misdemeanor Offenses

In Arizona, a misdemeanor is considered a less serious crime compared to a felony, but it can still carry significant legal consequences. Misdemeanors are classified into three categories:

1. A Class 1 Misdemeanor is most serious type of misdemeanor and includes things like simple assault, theft of property valued under $1,000, or driving under the influence (DUI) without aggravating factors. Penalties can include up to 6 months in jail, 3 years of probation and/or a fine of up to $2,500. 
2. A Class 2 Misdemeanor includes things like criminal trespassing or disorderly conduct. Penalties can include up to 4 months in jail, two years on probation, and/or a fine of up to $750. 
3. A Class 3 Misdemeanor is the least serious classification and includes included things like minor drug offenses (e.g., possession of small amounts of marijuana) or certain traffic violations. Penalties can include up to 30 days in jail, one year of probation, and/or a fine of up to $500
